Hello, I’m Anand! My goal is to teach eastern traditions to help foster emotional balance.

Anand Parikshak

Anand is a meditation teacher, martial artist, and world-traveling poet. He specializes in providing one-on-one and small group meditation trainings in the DC, Memphis, and San Francisco areas. First learning yogic meditation and posture from his father, the son of a Vedanta educator, it was in his teens that Anand developed a passion for meditation inspired by a connection with Nature and the guidance of his primary teacher, Dr. B Bayard- a Taoist practitioner and physician.Anand is skilled in the forms of Yang Family Tai Chi Chu’an, Tai Chi Sheng Gong, Tai Chi Chi Gong, Wuji Yuan Gong, Iron Shirt Chi Gong, and Empty Standing Chi Gong. He is a certified meditation instructor for the Healing Tao (500 hr) and Cultivating Emotional Balance Project (180 hr). Rooted in the Taoist tradition, Anand’s courses emphasize the development of an embodied, meaningful meditation practice informed by experience, investigation, and an appreciation of Nature.

Reawaken to the internal and external experiences of the present moment. Intended to strengthen the Mind (mindfulness), this class teaches techniques and methods for systematically developing awareness.

The practice of mindful awareness has a variety of well-documented impacts, including a reduction in toxic stress, an increase in emotion regulation, and an improvement in sustained attention, focus and executive functioning.

When our minds become too active and crowded, bringing attention to our bodies can revive and synchronize our being, bringing about a welcomed sense of calm and relaxation. This practice brings mindfulness to the body through somatic movement and includes practices such as Qi Gong, walking or yoga postures.
