Why meditate?

Reduce Stress

Meditation practice can help ease stress, restoring your calm and inner peace.

Enhance Cognition

Meditation directly affects the function and structure of the brain, changing it in ways that increase attention span, sharpen focus, and improve memory.

Improve health

The relaxation response from meditation helps decrease metabolism, lowers blood pressure, and improves heart rate, breathing, and brain waves.

Cultivate Community

Meditation with others ensures accountability and develops a sense of synchronicity with the practicing community.

I had such a delightful experience. I've attended a mediation and am looking forward to going back (tomorrow!). I spoke with the founder and one of the teachers and felt welcomed and at ease immediately. The space is cozy and inviting. I was comfortable and relaxed as I savored the complimentary tea before the meditation. I embarked on a unique experience being guided and would highly recommend it.

I'm so glad a concept like this has come to DC. I've attended a meditation and a power nap session. Both were amazing as I felt energized and more positive as I returned to work. I was noticeably more productive at work during the time I usually have that 2nd cup of coffee in the afternoon. I can certainly see myself becoming a regular! Its well worth it and I encourage everyone to try recharj.

The recharj space is an oasis and the people in it are welcoming. You feel like you're a part of a community from day one and that there's something more under the surface, worthy of exploration. Right now they have a great deal to experience all of the classes, unlimited for a low monthly membership. It's worth it. A place like recharj is difficult to describe unless one experiences it. It's also difficult to convey to someone that in our busy, modern world full of distractions and stressors that this kind of experience shouldn't be a luxury. It's required. So that's why you should invite all of your friends and take it from there.

Awesome staff, environment, and concept! Between long hours at work, planning a wedding, and renovating a new home, this is EXACTLY what I needed to escape the stress and finally relax. Even just a brief session leaves me feeling so much more centered, productive, and ready to get back to the grind. Thank you for finally bringing this to D.C.!!

I heard about this via an article in the Washington Post. I'm always so stressed by the week that by Friday I am really ready for the weekend. I made an appointment for a 12:30 pm Power Nap. I was blown away by how relaxed I was afterward. The space is very quiet and the "bed" that you take the nap on wraps you in a way that I've never been before. You can cover up with a blanket and put an eye mask on. Quiet, relaxing music plays and you are offered ear plugs if you don't want any sound. I plan to go back next week!

I have a hard time with mindfulness and meditation, but you all make it so easy and SOO relaxing. I have done 4 classes, and every time I am done, I feel better than after having a massage (and that says a LOT). THANK YOU.

This place is a dream. Tranquil and welcoming as soon as you walk in. The woman I was greeted by was super helpful and friendly. I did one of the nap sessions and it was amazing. You go into a little area that's sectioned off by curtains and lay down on a huge beanbag bed that forms to your body. Then they turn all the lights off and play the most relaxing music. If you've run in from the busy-ness and stress of the outside, it might take you a few minutes to relax, but trust that you will by the end of the session. This place is unique and so needed with the craziness and stress of city life, and especially political life we're all mired in right now. Take 20 minutes and give it a shot.

I started a consistent meditation practice one year ago this month. I went into it knowing I lived anxiously and far too often allowed outside factors to control my emotions and my happiness. I also went into it skeptically, but also knowing it couldn’t make things worse. As I sit here reflecting on the past year my brain is flooded with overwhelming feelings of happiness. Here’s some of the things that have happened to me or changed in the past 365 days: I became calmer. I learned to trust in the universe (I swear once you can do this life becomes easy and filled with good). I felt joy in every single day. I respected people more. I listened and communicated better - in turn, my voice became louder. I cultivated patience. My compassion for all, even those I don’t agree with became stronger. I learned to be proud of myself. I learned to love my brain and my body. I maintained a sense of calm in stressful situations that didn’t need my stress in order to survive (I wasn’t running from any tigers 😉). I helped others get through difficult times. I met the love of my life. I was offered and accepted an amazing new job that I wasn’t even looking for. I learned to express my feelings (good and bad!) in healthy ways. I could go on and on. It’s not always easy. I don’t always want to practice. I still have days where I’m not “zen-like” lol. I’m human. Meditation helps me deal with that fact. Big thank you and so much gratitude to <a class="notranslate" href="https://www.instagram.com/recharjdc/">@recharjdc</a> And all of the amazing instructors who have helped me cultivate my meditation practice, answered all of my millions of questions, explained things in a way that helped me to understand the benefits, encouraged me to always be curious, to try new things and reminded me to be kind to myself. You’ve changed my life and for that you all will forever have a special place in my heart. Can’t wait to see how my practice grows in the coming year!

ATTIRE + SHOES: There is no preferred attire. Come as you are or however you are most comfortable. Our sessions are not physically intensive, so most any attire is appropriate. Since we are a barefoot studio, we ask that you please remove your shoes before entering the space and stick them in the storage nook.  If possible, avoid wearing heavy perfumes or smoking beforehand. Other meditators and nappers may be allergic to such scents.

BRING WITH YOU: Please remember your ID to show the front desk upon arrival. ID is required to check in.

STORAGE + CHARGING STATION: We have a storage nook for storing your belongings as well as an area to charge your cell phone.

CHECK IN: Please arrive 15 minutes early for meditation classes, 5 minutes early to power naps and make sure to check in at the iPad stand or with the front desk crew. If you haven’t already online, you’ll sign a waiver and get prepped on our style of class. If you are not signed in 3 minutes prior to class, your spot may be given away.  Remember to wait outside the studio until the door is opened by the recharj team.  Walking in while the door is close may interfere with an existing class and is disruptul to fellow meditators and nappers.  Thank you for your cooperation.

WATER + TEA: Water and premium Rishi tea are available to you at no charge. Take a moment before class to enjoy a beverage and socialize.

ETIQUETTE: Bring good vibes into this space and treat others how you’d like to be treated. To preserve the experience and respect the ritual, we ask that you turn off your cell phones in the studio. The studio is equipped with cubbies and a charging station.

*Student ID required for student rates.

MEDITATION SETUP: As a new meditator, feel free to ask your instructor questions. After you have found the correct posture, our instructors will take you on your mindfulness journey.

POWER NAP SETUP: Our staff will assist you in locating your napping cocoon (complete with a blanket, head pillow and eye pillow) and opening/closing the draperies. Lay back and relax as lights are dimmed and soothing sounds are played as you drift off to sleep.

SAFETY: Although there are few safety concerns while napping or meditating, it’s important to listen to your body and remember that you are in complete control. Our studio is the perfect environment for each meditator and napper to take every session at a pace that works for them.
