Whatever your current emotional state, there is no better way to prepare for the emotional roller coaster that is Valentine’s Day than finding a soft comfy space to curl up and take a nap.
Maybe today is the day; that exciting day to make your move. The day to ask the one you’re with that if they will love and cherish you forever. Your heart is racing, your palms are sweaty, and your body is flush with excitement. Did you sleep well the night before? Most do not. Allow the calming affect of a power nap help you regain your control and be present.
Shut yourself off from the distraction of the outside world, if possible. Shut down electronics and turn off the lights. Find a comfortable space to lie down flat on your back. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, slowly. Now, breathe out. Mind your surroundings. Take note of your breathing; in and out, the air filling and escaping your lungs. Visualize your favorite calming scenario. As your body sinks into a relaxed state, feel free to slip into sleep. Upon waking, take another deep breath and rise up slowly. Stand up. Put your arms up in the air, outstretched like you’ve won the Superbowl. You’re ready. Good luck!
